Jamil GS’s photographs have gained iconic status over the decades, and many of his works have their origins in the Golden Era of Hip Hop’s from New York in the 1990s.
From shooting Jay-Z’s first press photos, to being a part of the early success of global streetwear monolith Supreme—which sold for $2.1B to VF Corp—Jamil GS’s work has been a visual mainstay in Hip Hop culture and has been exhibited in renowned galleries and museums around the world, such as V&A London alongside Richard Avedon and Helmut Newton, as well as ICP and Fotografiska alongside Ricky Powell, Janette Beckman and Jamel Shabazz.
For 30 years, Jamil GS has built a living archive which remains relevant with consumers and in demand to create relevance for today’s biggest pop icons like Drake, Wu Tang, Nas and Supreme.
The idea is to take this well-functioning proven model which has shown its value for more than 25 years, and give it a boost through further development and expansion of the product holding. This is a way to meet existing demand and needs of the growing market, while simultaneously continue to grow the living archive and assets.
